Gonorrhea: It is Easily treatable
Posted on March 31st, 2009 No commentsGonorrhea or for that matter any STD (sexually Transmitted Disease) can affect both the sexes. More prone are the homosexuals and the heterosexuals.
Gonorrhea treatment can be undertaken at specialized clinic. It is economical. The diagnoses tests are also not time consuming.
First, the physician takes the personal interview of the patient. This is a crucial stage when the patient must take the physician into confidence. Similarly, the interviewer should be able to elicit confidence on the part of the interviewee.
The antecedents as reported by the patient make it easier for the physician to gauge the nature of the ailment. Hence, the interviewee must reveal the nature of his/her sexual interactions. This is especially significant for the homosexuals and the heterosexuals.
It is to be noted that sex is not the main means for the transmission of STI (sexually transmitted infection) from an already infected person to another. Certain sexual typical acts are primarily responsible for the STIs. These are anal sex or mouth sex. Notably, unprotected sex with multiple sexual partners is a prime reason for the spread of the STIs.
This is because the STIs spread due to certain fungi, bacteria and viruses. These parasites breed in the moist portions of the human body. They use the body fluids present in the anus, throat, mouth, vagina and even the semen to move from one person to another. Admixture of the bodily fluids emanating from the aforementioned portions leads to fast transmission of the STIs.
The symptoms of STIs remain hidden for as long as a month or four weeks. That phase is adequate for the agents to not just breed themselves in the carrier’s body but also do damage to several vital organs of the patient. So the patient remains unaware of the attacks of the agents. They then become the means to spread to the other unsuspecting sexual partners during copulation.
Moreover, even if some of the symptoms may appear at the initial stages, many patients resort to the dangerous process of self medication. More often than not, they mistake the tell-tale signs to be that of the common illnesses like cold, flu and influenza as they may have headache, diarrhea, constipation, or running nose accompanied by headache, among others.
So, we have seen the importance of the sexually active people to have regularly diagnosed and treated by the physicians.
It is of utmost importance that pregnant women or sexually active teenagers (especially those below 18 years of age) should not withhold these data from their physicians. This is significant particularly because some of the commonly prescribed medicines are not recommended for such patients.
The patient is first tested for any STI (sexually transmitted infection) or STD (Sexually Transmitted Diseases. In case the person tests positive for gonorrhea, the treatment process commences.
The treatment may be as simple as the recommendation of a single dose of an antibiotic. It may be administered through injection or the medicine may be in the form of a pill. At times the course may be longer, though.
The commonly prescribed antibiotics for the treatment of gonorrheal patients are Ceftriaxine, Cefixine, and Ofloxacin.
The next noteworthy fact is that one must complete the medicine dose prescribed by the physician. If the patient leaves the dosage or the quota incomplete, the likelihood of the sexually transmitted infections assuming serious proportions definitely increases.
The other guidelines include total abstinence from sexual activities till one is tested negative for STD. Suppose one is tested positive for STI or STD including gonorrhea, not only should the patient abstain from sexual activities but also alert the other sexual partners. They must also immediately go in for medical diagnosis. This will go a long way in spreading the disease. Protected sex is the only way to keep STIs or STDs at bay.

Gonorrhea: Early Diagnosis Can Halt Body Damage
Posted on March 31st, 2009 No commentsGonorrhea, also known as ‘the clap’ is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). It is of utmost necessity that a sexually active person or a heterosexual person or a gay or a lesbian should have oneself regularly examined for probable infection though typical sexual acts.
It has to be noted that sex is not the sole medium for the transmission of the sexually transmitted infection (STI) from an infected person to another. Rather safe sex is a deterrent for such transmission.
Actually, the STI spreads due to the mixture of the certain bodily fluids, and that too through certain sexual acts. And, that’s why the homosexuals and those practicing unnatural sexual activities are more prone to the sexually transmitted infections than the people who practice safe or orthodox sex and/or the people who have only one sexual partner.
The potential agents are the anus, mouth, vagina and the anus. The liquids present in these organs are ideal habitats of the viruses, bacteria and similar parasites that act as the conduit for the STI which remained untreated magnifies into various STDs.
These portions of the body are also the breeding places for the Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacterium that causes gonorrhea, or for that matter any other agents that cause the STIs. But if the patient waits for the infections (STIs) to express themselves, the gestation period suffices for the agents to spread the infection and even damage vital organs. It then becomes rather too late for the physician to offer any remedies.
DECEPTIVE SILENT INVADERS
The STI symptoms are quite deceptive. The agents causing the sexually transmitted infections invade the body very silently and they use the body fluids as the via media.
It has to be noted that the gonorrheal signs are very deceptive. Moreover, the symptoms of gonorrhea become evident to the patient only after the sexually transmitted infection (STI) has already taken deep roots. In other words, the STI precedes the STD.
GESTATION PERIOD CAN EXTEND TO THREE WEEKS
Besides, it may take even three-four weeks time (since the day the infection takes place) for the tell-tale signs of the STD to reveal themselves. What is more, more often than not the symptoms of any STI is mistaken for other common ailments as they resemble cold, sneezing, general weakness, or at times rising or fluctuating temperature and such other signs associated with cold, flu, headache etc.

Gonorrhea: Antibiotics can easily cure
Posted on March 31st, 2009 No commentsGonorrhea can be easily treated with antibiotics. Such treatments are quite effective what with researches showing that 95-99% of such timely treatments do deliver the goods.
It is for this reason that timely and early detection of the disease is necessary.
DIAGNOSIS NOT EASY
But it is easier said than done. This is because the symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases (STIs) or the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) appear quite late.
Moreover, in many cases, they don’t appear at all. While in other instances, the symptoms become evident when the infection or the disease has already taken deep roots.
What is more, by that time in some cases, the infection or the disease would be affecting some of the important organs of the patient.
MORE THAN 8 LAKH AFFECTED BY GONORRHEA
Annually, gonorrhea affects more than 800,000 American people.
Nonetheless, the fact remains that late detection of the disease becomes rather tough for the physician to check gonorrhea from spreading. Moreover, the gonorrheal treatment cannot reverse the damages already done to the sensitive organs — especially reproductive.
WHAT EXACTLY IS GONORRHEA?
Gonorrhea is a form of sexually transmitted disease (STD). Gonorrhea is the final stage of sexually transmitted infection (STI). Gonorrhea is also known as “The Clap”.
MEN MORE VULNERABLE THAN WOMEN
Gonorrhea affects men and women alike. Nonetheless, contrary to common misconception, men are more vulnerable to Gonorrhea than female. In fact, man is four times prone to Gonorrhea than females.
EPDIDYMITIS & PELVIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE
If men suffer from Gonorrhea for a prolonged period, it can lead to epididymitis. On the other hand, undetected cases of Gonorrhea with respect to women can degenerate to PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease).
MEDICAL TESTS ARE EASY & FAST
Many people do not approach the physician for three typical mental blocks. In fact, these are mere misconceptions.
First, the medical tests are complex; second, they are too probing; third, they are costly.
Actually, the laboratory tests undertaken for detecting sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are simple, non-probing and rather cost effective.
Here are the steps:
Your physician will ask for your antecedents, particularly the sexual history. There might also be queries about the symptoms. The patient should divulge the details to the doctor. This is significant because the physician will be able to gauge the period you have been actually infected. A physical examination is carried out when the doctor will seek for signs of the STIs (sexually transmitted infections).
The physician will look out for every sign of infection: including any unnatural discharge from the penis or the vagina, fever, or inflammation of the penis or the vagina.

Gonorrhea: Early Diagnosis & Treatment Necessary
Posted on March 31st, 2009 No commentsGonorrhea affects both the sexes. Gonorrhea also transcends ages, class, and community.
MORE THAN 900,000 PERSONS GET GONORRHEA
Also known popularly as ‘The Clap’, the ratio of gonorrheal affection between males and females is 4:1. CDC researches show that this STD (sexually transmitted disease) annually inflicts 900,000 persons in the USA alone.
REGULAR MEDICAL CHECKUPS MUST
Against this backdrop, it is of utmost necessity that any sexually active person gets oneself doubly checked by the physician the moment any of the typical symptoms associated with the STD becomes evident.
In fact, all sexually active people including teenagers, gays, lesbians, and those involved in heterosexual relationships must have themselves tested by the physician for signs of STIs (sexually transmitted infections) at least twice annually.
TAKE THE PHYSICIAN INTO CONFIDENCE
Such persons should also reveal to the doctor the natures of their sexual activities to the physician (if they do not experience any unnatural symptoms). This helps the expert to carry out proper diagnoses, testing and recommend the necessary treatment for the patient.
THREE REASONS TO BE TRUE TO THE DOCTOR
Speak the truth or face the hard truth!
Many may ask: Why should one say everything ‘private’ and ‘personal’ to the doctor? This is very important because of four reasons:
First, the symptoms do not show in most of the cases before three months - by that time, the infections generally take deep roots and also start spreading. If the infections are detected at the initial stages of their development, the chances of stalling the spread of the disease through medications are always there.
Secondly, the symptoms are often mistaken for other illnesses and especially the common sicknesses like cold and flu.
The third reason is ’self medication’. A person (without any expert’s advice) can have not only disastrous results on the person concerned but also cause the infection to spread fast and adversely affect other parts of the body. Serious damages can also occur to vital organs.
Last but not the least, such follies on the part of the patient can surely make the infection (STI) or the disease (STD) to take deep root and affect vital organs of the body.
NOTE: Remember, it is always better to be cautious than to take medications after the disease has affected the vital organs of the body. In such circumstances, medical aid cannot aid the patient.

Gonorrhea: Males More Prone than Women
Posted on March 31st, 2009 No commentsGonorrhea is a form of STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease). It is also known as the clap. Though it is called as a sexually transmitted disease, sex is not the main or the only factor responsible for the spread of gonorrhea. Then how does gonorrhea spread?
HOW GONORRHEA SPREADS?
Gonorrhea, however, does spread when people resort to typical sexual acts. For instance, the gays usually resort to anal sex. The anus as many other moist parts of the human body are habitats of the bacterium — Neisseria gonorrhoeae — that causes gonorrhea. The other parts are the mouth, throat, and even the mouth and eyes among others.
The bacterium gets transferred from an infected person to another through the mixture of the body fluids present in the aforementioned portions of the body. The sexual partners should therefore practice safe sex. The condom is the best means to obviate all possibilities of not contracting any STIs or STDs.
MALES MORE VULNERABLE TO GONORRHEA THAN WOMEN
Contrary to popular belief that gonorrhea is typical ailment affecting the females, studies and researches have proved that males are more vulnerable to gonorrhea than females.
TYPICAL GONORRHEAL SYMPTOMS
The typical symptoms or signs of gonorrhea vary among males and females.
Notably, the characteristic signs of gonorrheal infection are more prominent among the males than the females.
In the latter case, the gonorrheal symptoms are not only milder but also very secretive. In fact, the symptoms may not be evident at all. In such situations, the patient will not even know that she has contracted the infection or the disease.
It has dangerous implications. If she keeps on having heterosexual contacts, she would be infecting other partners as well. Each of the newly infected persons will similarly pass on the infection (STI) or the disease (STD) to other people. Thus, STIs and STDs are fast spreading across the globe.
And in many cases, the symptoms reveal themselves only after the STIs have already taken deep roots. Medications at that stage can only arrest the spread of the infection. Any damage that has already been caused to the patient’s body, however, cannot be cured.
Moreover, most of the gonorrheal symptoms are misinterpreted as pointing to only the common ailments like cold or flu.
Besides, the typically gonorrheal signs or symptoms are comparatively milder among women than men. The women affected by gonorrhea, in most of the cases, do not at all demonstrate any symptom of the ailment. That is why the problem gets compounded.
In the first place, the patient comes to know that she is suffering from gonorrhea at a very advanced stage when it becomes quite difficult to check its growth.
Second, just because neither she nor her sexual partner knows about the reality, she passes on the ailment to her sexual partner(s).
Many a time, the gonorrhea symptoms are also mistaken to be a vaginal or bladder infection.
