    Gonorrhea is diagnosed through various laboratory tests.

    The normal procedure is to first have regular medical investigations or examinations. For carrying out the laboratory test, the medical laboratory expert takes a sample of those portions of the patient’s body that are vulnerable to the bacterium — Neisseria gonorrhoeae. These are throat, rectum, urethra and cervix. The sample is then sent for analysis to the laboratory.

    Gram stain is the quickest laboratorial test for gonorrhea. Gram stain results are more reliable in the case of men than women. Gram stain testing can be carried out in many clinics or doctors’ chambers.

    Gonorrheal infection of the urethra or cervix is diagnosed through the urinal sample or/and gram stain testing in a laboratory. For carrying out ‘Gram stain’ testing, a sample is taken from either the cervix or the urethra. The presence of the bacterium gonorrhea bacterium becomes evident when the sample is examined under a microscope.

    HOW GONORRHEA SPREADS?

    The most important point about Gonorrhea is that it gets transmitted through sexual acts.

    Gonorrhea primarily spreads from women to others. However, Gonorrhea can also spread from an infected man to men and women during sexual contacts.

    However, it is not necessary that Gonorrhea spreads through only ejaculation. Contacts with infected persons through the anus, mouth, vagina and penis are enough to contact Gonorrhea.

    What is more, a person who was cured of Gonorrhea always remains vulnerable to the ailment, though. Such people can again suffer from the disease the moment the have sexual contact with a person suffering from this disease.

    Notably, Gonorrhea can pass on the fetus from an infected mother.

    WHAT CAUSES GONORRHEA?

    Gonorrhea is caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. This bacterium breeds very facts in the reproductive tract of women. The moist areas of the tract are the perfect place for Neisseria gonorrhoeae to not just grow but also multiply.

    In fact, any portion of the body that remains moist is the ideal habitat of the bacterium. Therefore, Neisseria gonorrhoeae can also grow and multiply in the urinal canal (urethra), anus, eyes, throat and even the mouth.
